Sanitation and Waste Management

Sanitation conclusion meets crisis solution image

"Sanitation conclusion meets crisis solution"Roughly 2.6 billion people, mostly from developing countries do not have adequate access to proper sanitation. A lack of proper sanitation is arguably the greatest concern facing the modern world, and accounts for more than the 70% of fatal diseases (including: Malaria, Diarrhoea, Typhoid, Cholera, Guinea Worm, Ebola etc.) killing countless men, women, and children globally each year.

In Africa alone, 584 million people currently have inadequate water and sanitation, and the poorest of those are 18 times more likely to practice open defecation. Poor sanitation is not solely an issue of human development, but it also undoubtedly affects a societies overall health, life expectancy, education and prosperity.

Global Children’s Fund is searching for sustainable solutions to this problem that would create a lasting impact on the water and sanitation crisis globally.

Our campaign focuses on three core approaches including:

Educate – Establish and train a local, long-term sanitation committee, to regularly present workshops and seminars, designed to provide up to date information and strategies for maintaining healthy living, working, and learning environments.

Advocate – Partner with and advocate for communities through our strong ties with policy makers, local Rotarians, community leaders, local businesses and innovators, to help promote sanitation initiatives and further growth.

Initiate – Provide sanitation supplies such as trash receptacles, wheel barrows, shovels, water filters, build wells, etc.

The short term goal is to revitalize already existing waste removal systems, while establishing more effective disposal locations, such as certified landfills, recycling facilities, and biological waste and sewer systems.

This is a big undertaking and we welcome and greatly appreciate your support with this global mission.
