Women Empowerment

Girl Child Education Awareness Creation (GCEAC) - Volta Region of Ghana

GCEAC serves young women at risk, who have been sexual abused and/or have substance problems with drugs and alcohol, as well as prostitution and victims of child sex trafficking.

The GCEAC provides a safe place where these vulnerable women can feel protected and encouraged to share their testimony with each other

The center’s goal is to establish a mentoring program for these women where each woman is assigned to a specialist to help them in the healing process.

Currently, the women are being trained on how to make traditional necklaces, earrings, and bags/purses. The idea is to help them become self-sufficient through the production and sales of their own merchandise.

Rita Siaw, the founder of this program is also the one helping to train the young women, by teaching them how to make the different styles of traditional jewelry.  Rita is a well-known radio talk show host, and the secretary to the Paramount Queen mother.

Rita’s next big project is to build a small library for these as risk women, as part of her literacy initiative, educating the women on how to read and write.

Rita is also in the process of publishing her 2nd book called “I Wish I Knew” to help educate young women on how to protect themselves from becoming victims of teenage pregnancy, and drug and alcohol abuse.

Water and Sanitation

Save A Village in Ghana!

Number of Broken Pumps : 5

Cost per each repair : $250

Total Project Cost: $1,250

International Partners: PPEP, Inc. (U.S.A)

Beneficiaries: Old Baika community (Ghana, West Africa).

Overview

Malaria and water borne diseases are far more deadly than Ebola! Clean drinking water has been critical to staving off major diseases that plague Africans and ultimately us.

Too many broken down water wells (pumps) forcing villagers to drink water from contaminated streams and rivers. In the rain forest, in the Volta Region of Ghana, West Africa, there are at least 28 villages with 54 failed water well pumps affecting several thousand families.

We can correct this situation!  You can give a gift of clean water by making a one time contribution towards the costs of repairing broken water well pump. No contribution is too small and every little bit helps.

Your gift, regardless of the amount will prevent water born diseases in Ghana and stop children from dying before the age of 5.

Progress reports of the project will be submitted to you plus photos of the water wells you adopt.  Your name or company can be listed as the sponsor of each well you adopt if you so desire.
